What is a sluggard?
If you do not know, possibly it is because you are not familiar with the Bible. This word is mentioned numerous times.
"The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly." - Proverbs 26:16
"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied." - Proverbs 13:4
"Sluggards do not plow in season, so at harvest time they look but find nothing." - Proverbs 20:4
With so many continuing to not want to work, it is very perplexing to many. Is our society becoming one of "sluggards?"
Well, the most clarity we can gleen is from the Bible. The Bible is clear on work. If fact, the Bible mentions in two verses, not just one, the same truths:
"The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies lacks judgment." - Proverbs 12:11
" The one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty." - Proverbs 28:19
We all have gifts and talents, so I believe the plan should be to use your gifts and talents that you were born with, to build and plant one step at a time, while discerning what is a fantasy and what is not. To those who think "the grass is greener" elsewhere, the grass is greener where it is watered and nurtured.
We are here to be "good stewards" and to use our innate gifts to share with others, as well as support and encourage others in our spheres of influence to do the same.
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace." - 1 Peter 4:10
"A man's gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men." - Proverbs 18:16
