Back in December, I did a blog post about an interview that Kirk Cameron did on his show "Takeaways" with Matthew West, who is a singer/ songwriter. (blog link referenced below)

Matthew mentioned the fact that "he can't separate his art from his faith." He goes on to say that "we have all been given a voice, and we should not overlook the opportunities right in front of us."

I had mentioned in that post that there is something profound about creativity, whether it is in writing songs/ poetry, etc...

In the Bible there are five poetic books (Psalms, Proverbs, Job, Song of Songs, and Ecclesiastes), and one of my favorite verses in the book of Proverbs is: "a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver" - Proverbs 25:11

With so many people in the hospitality industry struggling on so many levels, it can sometimes be a lot to listen to each and every day, and experience as well. Many are extremely overworked; spread way too thin doing way too many tasks; taking on way too many responsibilities which are really not theirs to bare; and many are feeling, sadly, both unappreciated and undervalued for what they bring to the table each day.

A great friend of mine sent me this Matthew West song, and I thought this would be the perfect post to share it. It is called "Truth be Told."

Hope you enjoy and take in the amazing lyrics! Super poetic and filled with much wisdom!

This is one of my favorite poems, and it is written by Corrie Ten Boom.

A true masterpiece!

My life is but a weaving

Between my God and me.

I cannot choose the colors

He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;

And I in foolish pride

Forget He sees the upper

And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent

And the shuttles cease to fly

Will God unroll the canvas

And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful

In the weaver’s skillful hand

As the threads of gold and silver

In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;

Nothing this truth can dim.

He gives the very best to those

Who leave the choice to Him.

Zack Gilarski

A True Support to Many!

Since so many have left the hospitality arena, I felt compelled to repost another one of my favorite interviews with another one of my favorite individuals in the industry. At the time I did this interview, Zack was at the Four Seasons in Philadelphia, and he is now at the Montage Kapalua Bay. How fortunate the Montage brand is to have a true leader such as Zack as their Purchasing Manager. Zack is a true support, rock and encourager to many (including me).

The perspectives and insights shared, will no doubt assist others within the industry, no matter the location.
